Retirement Rewritten with Donna Sunario
Work, Money, Health and Freedom After 50
Retirement is not one date or one financial number. It is a redesign of work, income, health, identity, time and freedom for the next stage of life.
Donna Sunario BSc, Author, Behaviour Strategist and Educator.
What Retirement Rewritten covers
- Later-life work
- Rethinking the role of work: pace, hours, flexibility and the place it occupies in your life.
- Pensions and personal finance education
- Understanding the questions to ask about income, pensions and everyday financial decisions, and where to find qualified help.
- Health and longevity
- Exploring evidence about later-life health, everyday habits and the conditions that support wellbeing, without promising outcomes.
- Identity and purpose
- Making room for a sense of self, connection and purpose beyond a job title or a full diary.
- Independence and freedom
- Reflecting on the practical options, relationships and use of time that make the next stage feel more like your own.
What Fractional Retirement means
Fractional Retirement is Donna’s practical life-design concept: deliberately reducing dependence on full-time work in stages, while building financial, practical and personal options before stopping work completely.
It is a way to frame questions about how you want to live, not a prescription for when to retire or what to do with your money. A gradual change in work might be one option to explore; what is possible depends on your circumstances.
It is not an investment strategy, a guarantee, regulated financial advice or a clinical concept.

A Human Systems Design perspective
Work, money, health, relationships and identity do not sit in separate boxes. Retirement Rewritten connects to Donna’s Human Systems Design territory by looking at how these parts of life interact, and what changes when one of them shifts.
Donna holds a BSc, with studies in psychology, forensic psychology, psychotherapy and finance. She is a Paul McKenna Certified Hypnotherapist, trained with Dr Richard Bandler, co-creator of NLP, a certified life coach and a Mental Health First Aid instructor. These qualifications do not make this regulated financial advice or clinical care.
An evidence-led approach
The approach is to use primary research and official sources wherever possible, identify the source and date of evidence, and distinguish findings from Donna’s interpretation or opinion. Evidence should inform a question, not be used to promise a particular result.

Start here
Start with the part of the next stage that feels least clear: the work you want to keep, the income questions you need to understand, the conditions that support your health, or the time you want to make your own.
